Char Dham Yatra 2024 : Opening Dates
Uttarakhand also Known as Devbhoomi or land of gods is famous for various temples and religious sites. Char Dham is one on the Pilgrimage circuit in Uttarakhand that includes Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath. Char Dham of Uttarakhand is also called "Chota Char Dham". The Main Char Dham of India are Badrinath, Dwarka , Puri and Rameshwaram.
Let's know About Each one of them :
1. Yamunotri : Yamunotri is the first temple or Dham in the circuit from where we start our char dham yatra. Yamunotri Temple is dedicated to the Yamuna River, it is the second holy river after Ganga. It is said that if you dip in the yamuna river you will be protected by untimely death.
2. Gangotri: Gangotri is the second temple or Dham to visit in the circuit. It is in Uttarkashi the temple of Goddess Ganga. According to hindu legends, Ganga, the most sacred of all rivers, came directly from heaven at Gangotri when Lord Shiva released the river from his locks. Gaumukh is the origin of this river which is 18 km away from Gangotri and you can trek there.The riviera also known as Bhagirathi river and it merges with Alaknanda river to form Ganga in Devprayag Sangam.
3. Kedarnath: Kedarnath is the Third temple or Dham to visit in the Circuit. The Kedarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is also one of the temples in Panch Kedar. The Hump of Lord Shiva is in Kedarnath, The arms are in Tungnath, The face is in Rudranath, The belly is in Madmaheshwar and his locks are in Kalpeshwar. This forms a Circuit of Panch Kedar.
4. Badrinath: Badrinath is the Fourth Temple or Dham to visit in the circuit. It is also Known as Badrinarayan temple. It is located in Badrinath town in Chamoli district. It was established by sage Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th Century.

1st day : Dehradun/Haridwar to Barkot
2nd day : Barkot -> Janki Chatti -> Yamunotri -> Barkot
3rd day : Barkot -> Uttarkashi
4th day : Uttarkashi -> Gangotri -> Uttarkashi
5th day : Uttarkashi -> Guptkashi -> Phata
6th day : Guptkashi -> Phata -> Kedarnath
7th day : Kedarnath -> Phata -> Guptkashi Kedarnath -> Phata -> Guptakashi
8th day: Guptakashi -> Joshimath
9th day: Joshimath -> Badrinath -> Joshimath
10th day: Joshimath -> Dehradun / Haridwar
